Bhopal's 6.22 km priority metro corridor will soon undergo trial runs. Construction between RKMP and AIIMS stations took approximately 17 months. A trial run between Subhash Nagar and RKMP stations occurred on October 3, 2023, with then-Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan participating. A notice has been issued to energize... the third rail with 33 kilowatts, preventing unauthorized access. Power will be supplied from the Chambal Grid substation to the Subhash Nagar depot's receiving substation (RSS), then distributed to stations between RKMP and AIIMS. Initial trial runs will have a speed of 20 km/h between RKMP, DRM Office, Alkapuri, and AIIMS stations. The Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) may conduct further testing next month. Metro testing includes non-stop runs (60-80 km/h) and stop-at-all-stations runs (20-30 km/h). The track has already supported speeds up to 90 km/h, achieved after approximately 1000 km of testing.
