Construction on the New Garia-Airport Metro line in Kolkata is stalled due to a lack of permission to close a road near Chingrighata for girder installation. The Kolkata Municipal Corporation and Traffic Department have been contacted, but Kolkata Police have not yet granted the necessary permission to temporarily close the... road for six nights, over two phases, needed to lift the girders for pillars 317, 318, and 319. This delay impacts the extension from Ruby to Sector V, halting progress for nearly a year, affecting a 366-meter section. The project's budget has also been significantly reduced, falling from ₹1791.39 crore in 2024-25 to ₹720.72 crore in 2025-26.
