The Pune Metro Line 3, which is intended to connect Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar over a 23 km route, faces a further delay. The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) announced an extension to the project deadline, as approved by the executive committee led by the Additional Chief Secretary (Finance). PMRDA Commissioner... Dr. Yogesh Mhase confirmed the extension, citing unavoidable delays even though over 85% of the civil work is done. Key issues contributing to the delay include unresolved barricading approvals on busy roads and slow utility relocation. This has also impacted the schedule of the integrated double-decker flyover between University Chowk and E-Square. The project, originally scheduled to be functional, has been repeatedly delayed, causing frustration among commuters who depend on public transportation, especially in Hinjawadi. Authorities maintain the new target is achievable if no more issues occur, and the entire corridor will be launched simultaneously to ensure smoother operations from the beginning.Read More...

Development works are accelerating in Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh. Authorities anticipate increased rail traffic to the Guntur region in the future. Proposals are being prepared for the construction of a new railway line between Perecherla and Mangalagiri. Additionally, plans include the construction of a Road Over Road (ROR) bridge... on the Nallapadu to Bibinagar route. The estimated cost for these projects is approximately ₹2,000 crore. On the 13th of this month, the South Central Railway General Manager held a review meeting with officials in Guntur, instructing them to expedite the survey work. The Railway Board has sanctioned funds for the survey of these rail projects. Currently, freight transport shares the same routes as passenger trains, causing difficulties, especially on the Perecherla to Vijayawada route. To resolve this, a railway line from Perecherla via Ponnekallu to Mangalagiri is proposed. A dedicated freight corridor is also planned. Freight trains from Perecherla to Guntur via Narsaraopet will run on the new route to Mangalagiri. Trains from Vijayawada will have direct access from Mangalagiri to Perecherla. This corridor, once operational, is expected to reduce congestion between Perecherla-Nallapadu-Guntur-Mangalagiri and also facilitate additional freight train operations. The survey for the new railway line between Perecherla and Mangalagiri is in its final stages, and officials are preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR). This will be reviewed by South Central Railway officials and then submitted to the Railway Board for approval. Meanwhile, an ROR bridge is proposed at the crossing on the two-line route from Nallapadu (Guntur district) to Bibinagar near Hyderabad, allowing trains to pass both above and below. Overall, proposals for another new railway line connecting to Amaravati are underway, along with ongoing survey work.Read More...
