An Y-shaped overbridge will be constructed at the Chitauni railway crossing on the Rasra-Nagra road in Ballia. This will ease travel for both rail passengers and the general public. The construction of a Deoria-Fourlane road is ongoing via Ghazipur-Rasra-Belthara Road. The overbridge will ensure uninterrupted traffic flow. This will provide direct... connectivity to cities like Ghazipur, Ballia, Bihar to Deoria, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, and others. The Bridge Corporation is preparing the proposal, and the design is ready. Construction will commence after government approval. Initially, the bridge was planned to be L-shaped, but the design was changed to accommodate vehicles from Purvanchal Expressway, Ghazipur, Mau, and Bihar going towards Gorakhpur. The Y-shape will allow vehicles from Deoria to easily reach their destinations. The four-lane overbridge, costing over ₹150 crore and approximately 1.40 meters long, will be built at the Chitauni railway crossing on the Rasra-Mau railway section. It will extend 800 meters towards Ballia-Mau NH and about 600 meters towards the Nagra road from the crossing. One lane will go towards Mau and one towards the station, forming the Y-shape. Vehicles can pass through both lanes under the bridge. The crossing closures cause significant traffic jams and long waiting times. Ashok Kumar, PRO of Varanasi division, stated that an overbridge construction had been discussed for a long time due to over 6 lakh TVUs (Traffic Volume Units) at the Chitauni railway crossing on the Rasra-Nagra road.
