A critical issue has emerged on the underground bridge constructed by GEB and the Railways in Vijapur. Vehicles, including bikes and Activas, are frequently slipping on the CC road. The road is particularly slippery in the curved areas, causing vehicles to lose control while braking. According to local lawyer Pinakin Barot,... the railway contractor created large bumps on the road leading from GEB towards the bus depot, court, and market yard. The sharp curve and slippery surface cause small vehicles to slip. All types of vehicles use this road. The situation worsens during the monsoon season, as one to two inches of rainwater accumulate in the underpass, and drainage is slow, exacerbating the problem. Locals fear a major accident and are urging authorities to take immediate action. If the issue isn't resolved, there's a high probability of serious accidents.Read More...
The land acquisition process for the Indore-Budhni railway line in Bijwad village was halted due to widespread public protest. The government's directive led to the suspension of the land possession work. During the protest, the police used force, resulting in injuries to eight women who received medical treatment. Farmers, including farmer... leader Hansraj Mandloi, protested the railway line's construction on their land instead of government land. They are unhappy with the compensation offered, based on a guideline that hasn't been updated for 15 years, except for a 20% reduction during the Kamal Nath government. The farmers are angry about the low compensation, which is estimated to be between ₹50,000 and ₹1 lakh. The government, in response to the escalating situation and public opposition, stopped the land possession work yesterday. Mandloi highlighted the inadequacy of the compensation, especially when compared to Bihar, which offers four times the guideline-based compensation.Read More...
After the construction of the broad gauge railway line between Kota-Sheopur-Gwalior, passengers from the Hadoti region (Kota, Bundi, Baran, and Jhalawar districts) will be able to reach Gwalior in six and a half hours. The railway line distance via Sheopur will be 284 km. Previously, the project for the 284 km... distance from Gwalior to Sheopur to Kota, via Bina, was planned in 2010-11. However, due to insufficient funds in the budget, work is currently underway only between Gwalior and Sheopur. Preparations are now being made to start work in the 101 km area towards Kota. A narrow gauge line was previously laid on the 190 km distance between Gwalior and Sheopur. Trains were not run at speed on this line. But now, for the convenience of the people, the government has prepared a plan to lay a broad gauge railway line between Gwalior-Sheopur-Kota. The proposed budget for the project is 2376 crores. New stations will be built in 8 towns between Sheopur and Kota. 583.84 hectares of land has been acquired for the Sheopur-Kota new line. Facts: Kota to Gwalior via Bina is 413 km (takes 8 hours), Kota to Bina is 303 km, Kota-Sheopur-Gwalior is 284 km, Gwalior-Sheopur is 190 km, Sheopur-Kota is 101 km, the new route will reduce the distance by 129 km. There will be 8 stations in Kota district on the 101 km broad gauge line between Kota and Sheopur. These will include Piplada, Ganeshjganj, Dostpura, Barod, Ummedpura, Sultanpur stations. Digod and Motipura Chowki already have stations. New stations will be built in Kota district.Read More...
The 90-degree turn on the railway overbridge in Bhopal's Ashbagh will be redesigned. PWD officials, in collaboration with the Railways, will redesign the bridge, which has gained notoriety across the country and on social media, leading to memes. The bridge will not be demolished, but the turning will be corrected... to prevent vehicle collisions. Action will be taken against those who designed the bridge. PWD Minister Rakesh Singh initiated an investigation by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), whose report suggested a speed limit of 35-40 kmph on the bridge to avoid accidents. The bridge features a U-shaped turn on one side and a nearly 90-degree angle turn on the other. The NHAI report deemed speeds of 30-35 kmph dangerous. The bridge is near the Ashbagh Stadium. The bridge was constructed because the Ashbagh railway crossing was closed and an ROB was necessary in the area, even if there was little space. Initially, the Railways had objected to the 90-degree turn, but PWD engineers cited space constraints as the reason for the design.Read More...

On Wednesday morning, local trains on the Central Railway line towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) from Karjat, Kasara, Badlapur, Titwala, Ambarnath, and Asangaon were running 20 to 25 minutes late. This caused overcrowding at stations as passengers rushed to catch the delayed trains. The railway administration didn't announce the reason... for the delays, causing confusion among passengers. Despite no heavy rain or waterlogging, the delays persisted. Even air-conditioned locals were running late. This resulted in frustration and anger among commuters trying to reach work on time. Railway Protection Force personnel, Railway Police, and Home Guards were deployed on platforms to manage the situation. Passengers were questioning station masters about the delays, who cited technical reasons. Trains from Karjat, Kasara, Asangaon, Titwala, Badlapur, and Ambarnath were packed, leading to overcrowding on trains from Kalyan and Dombivli as well. Despite the risk of accidents, like the Mumbra incident, commuters were focused on reaching work. Passengers were scrambling to catch any train to Mumbai, and the railway administration wasn't making announcements about the delays, leading to dissatisfaction. Due to lack of space in general and first-class compartments, many commuters were traveling in compartments reserved for the disabled.Read More...
