The Danapur Railway Division has significantly improved its performance, moving to second place nationwide for on-time train operations. With 93.29% of express trains running on time and only 7.71% experiencing delays, the division has addressed previous complaints of late trains. Under the leadership of DRM Vinod Kumar, the division implemented technical... and operational improvements, leading to increased average speeds on key routes like Mughalsarai to Jhajha (90-130 kmph). These improvements, along with infrastructure upgrades like track repairs, bridge reconstruction, and electronic panel interlocking systems, have dramatically reduced delays. The East Central Railway, under which Danapur falls, has also shown significant progress in punctuality, achieving the highest growth in on-time performance among all Indian Railways zones. This success is attributed to efforts in strengthening railway infrastructure, including new lines, doubling, gauge conversion, and electrification projects. The railway is now employing live monitoring and enhanced security measures at stations. Yard remodeling and panel interlocking have been completed at 23 stations, including Ara Junction, improving train movement and reducing accidents. Loco pilots now have the authority to increase speed to compensate for delays, supported by revised speed guidelines from the Ministry of Railways. The railway has also set speed limits for each route, such as allowing the Secunderabad Express from Mughalsarai to Patna to run at 115 kmph. This has boosted confidence and helped trains arrive on time.Read More...
The Gorakhpur-Dhanbad Special Train, operating weekly via Gomoh, Koderma, and Varanasi, is likely to cease operations after November due to low passenger numbers. Despite sleeper class seats filling up on Sundays, many seats in other classes remained vacant. The Dhanbad-Jammu train, which was running twice a week, has been suspended since... September and is now running to Delhi until November 29th, with an uncertain extension to Jammu. The Dhanbad-Lokmanya Tilak Mumbai Special, running until December 2nd with fully booked seats, has not had its operation extended despite strong passenger response. The extension of the Dhanbad-Bhubaneswar and Dhanbad-Chandigarh special trains has also not been announced. Furthermore, a direct train from Dhanbad to Bhopal, planned to run three times a week, is yet to commence operations, despite route and timetable being almost finalized, which would have provided better connectivity for passengers to various cities in Madhya Pradesh.Read More...
The condition of Hazaribagh Road railway station is again in the spotlight due to its poor state and the contractor's arbitrary actions. Despite crores of rupees being spent on passenger amenities, passengers are struggling for basic facilities. Under the Amrit Bharat Yojana, around 28 crore rupees were spent on developmental works,... including the construction of 5 waiting rooms on platform numbers 1 and 2. These include 2 for first-class passengers, 2 for second-class passengers, and 1 for rail staff. Though construction was completed more than three months ago, these rooms remain locked. Railway sources claim the waiting rooms haven't been opened due to the contractor's actions and internal conflicts within the railway department. Consequently, passengers have to wait for trains on the platform floor day and night. This causes inconvenience and highlights the station's mismanagement. Existing problems like locked toilets, lack of drinking water, and incomplete passenger sheds persist. Local residents and officials remain silent. The Railway Passengers Association President, Raju Mandal, stated that if the waiting rooms are not opened soon, they will protest against the contractor. Passengers are frustrated and questioning how long they'll have to wait on the ground.Read More...
