The Tatanagar Railway Engineering department demolished half a dozen shanties and raw houses in the Makdumpur area of Parsudih on Wednesday as part of an encroachment removal drive. RPF personnel were present for security during the drive. The railway had previously issued notices to families residing in houses made of plastic,... tin sheds, and bamboo in the pits, due to plans to lay a new line. These families did not oppose the removal. However, families living for years in raw houses along the line are now worried as the railway's expansion plan is expected to result in the demolition of hundreds of houses. The Railway Engineering department is also preparing to remove illegal encroachments from railway land in the Bagbera and Parsudih areas soon. Notices have been served to two to three hundred people in the Loco Colony and other areas to vacate the railway land.Read More...
