Mumbai Metro 1 May Soon Get Six-Coach Trains to Ease Rush Hour Crowds
The Mumbai Metro Line 1 (Ghatkopar–Andheri–Versova) is experiencing high ridership, exceeding 5 lakh daily, during peak hours. The current four-coach trains are overcrowded, especially at stations like Andheri, Western Express Highway, and Ghatkopar. Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL) has proposed expanding to six-coach trains to increase passenger capacity and... alleviate congestion. The proposal has been submitted to National Asset Reconstruction Company Limited (NARCL) through India Debt Resolution Company Limited (IDRCL). The upgrade would increase the capacity from approximately 1,750 passengers per trip to 2,250. This expansion is crucial, especially with the expected increase in ridership from Mumbai Metro Line 3 connecting to Marol station of Metro 1. Financial challenges, including a debt of over ₹1,700 crore, had delayed the expansion. The debt was transferred to NARCL for restructuring. The expansion plan now awaits NARCL's approval, which would significantly improve the commuting experience and operational efficiency of the metro line, which has been running since 2014.
Mumbai ka Ghatkopar–Andheri–Versova Metro 1 line morning aur evening peak hours mein massive rush dekh raha hai, daily ridership 5 lakh se zyada ho raha hai. Existing four-coach trains struggling hai growing crowd ko handle karne mein, passengers compartments mein packed ho rahe hain, especially at key stations jaise Andheri, Western... Express Highway, aur Ghatkopar. Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL) ne finally decide kiya hai commuter demand ko address karne ka, trains ko four se six coaches tak expand karke. Operator ne ek detailed proposal National Asset Reconstruction Company Limited (NARCL) ko submit kiya hai through India Debt Resolution Company Limited (IDRCL). Agar approve ho gaya, toh yeh move passenger capacity ko badhayega aur congestion kam karega busy east-west corridor par. Currently, har four-coach train approximately 1,750 passengers accommodate kar sakta hai. Do aur coaches add karne se capacity lagbhag 2,250 commuters per trip tak increase ho jayegi, rush hours mein breathing space milega. Yeh upgrade frequency aur passenger flow ko bhi improve karega, especially with new Mumbai Metro Line 3 ka Marol station of Metro 1 se connection, jis se footfall aur bhi badhne ki ummeed hai. MMOPL expansion ke idea ke liye open tha, lekin financial challenges ne progress delay kar diya. Metro 1 project par ₹1,700 crore se zyada ka debt hai, jo ki six banks ko dena hai. Jab MMOPL ne loans service karne mein inability express ki, toh matter National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) ko le gaya. Debt ko baad mein restructuring ke liye NARCL ko transfer kar diya gaya. Ab, do new coaches ka proposal NARCL ke approval par depend karta hai. Sanction hone par, yeh Mumbai ke metro commuters ke liye ek major relief hoga, jo overcrowding se struggle kar rahe hain. MMOPL officials ne optimism express kiya hai ki expansion travel comfort ko improve karega aur Mumbai ki first metro line (operational since 2014) ki overall efficiency aur reliability ko bhi badhayega.

The Bengaluru Metro's Blue Line, connecting the city to Kempegowda International Airport, is now expected to be completed by December 2027, according to the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). The project is divided into two phases. The initial plan was to complete Phase 1 by June 2026 and Phase 2... by December 2026, but this has been delayed. Delays are attributed to delayed approvals from the state and central governments, slow land acquisition, local opposition, and the time taken to resolve issues. Construction was halted for months after a construction accident in January 2023 caused the death of a woman and child. Lack of coordination among different contractors and delays in approvals from the South Western Railway have also contributed to the delays. The Blue Line spans 58.19 kilometers with 30 stations and a budget of ₹14,788 crore. Phase 1 runs from Central Silk Board to KR Puram (Phase 2A), while Phase 2 extends from KR Puram to the airport (Phase 2B). As of June 30, 2025, the overall physical progress of the line was 52.5%. Dust pollution is a significant problem on the Palarivattom-Kakkanad road, where metro rail construction is underway. The road conditions fluctuate with weather: rain leads to traffic congestion, and sunshine causes dust pollution. Areas like Padippattom, Ayyappanaadu Bridge, Chembumukku, and Padamukal are particularly affected. The Seaport-Airport Road also faces similar issues. Pedestrians... and two-wheeler riders are inconvenienced due to dust. The primary cause is the spread of small stones and soil from the metro construction. A day without rain results in dust problems, while continuous rain causes congestion. Rainwater fills small potholes, slowing down traffic, especially during morning and evening rush hours. Traffic moves slowly from Kunnumpuram to Kampivelikkom, and vehicles sometimes come to a standstill from Padamukal petrol pump to Padamukal Junction. Metro rail pillar construction is ongoing in these areas. Road width is reduced due to the placement of machinery and construction barriers in the middle of the road. This leads to large vehicles, including buses and lorries, encroaching on sidewalks and drain covers, raising safety concerns. Congestion is also frequent at intersections where vehicles from Palachuvadu-Padamukal Road, Muleppadam Road, Chembumukku Parekkattil Road, KK Road, and Pulikkillam Road enter Civil Line Road.
Kaakkanad mein Metro rail construction ke chalte Palarivattom-Kaakkanad Road par dust pollution ek serious problem hai. Road ki situation weather par depend karti hai: barish hone par traffic jam, aur dhoop aane par dust pollution. Padippattom, Ayyappanaadu Bridge, Chembumukku, aur Padamukal jaise areas mein bahut jyada dhool udti hai. Seaport-Airport Road... par bhi yahi haal hai. Pedestrians aur two-wheeler riders ko bhi isse pareshaani hoti hai. Metro construction ke kaaran chote patthar aur mitti road par failte hain, jisse dhool udti hai. Metro rail ke pillar ka construction in areas mein chal raha hai. Road ki width kam ho gayi hai kyuki machinery aur construction barriers road ke beech mein rakhe gaye hain. Is wajah se, bade vehicles, jaise buses aur lorries, footpaths aur drain covers par chadh jaate hain, jo safety ke liye khatarnak hai. Palachuvadu-Padamukal Road, Muleppadam Road, Chembumukku Parekkattil Road, KK Road, aur Pulikkillam Road se Civil Line Road mein enter hone waale intersections par bhi aksar congestion hoti hai.
The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a metro between Indore and Ujjain has been completed. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), which prepared it, will present it to metro officials in the first week of November. Following this, the DPR will be sent to the state government for approval. Initially, the project... proposed an overhead metro for a 47-kilometer stretch up to Indore's Lavkush Chauraha. Based on the Chief Minister's suggestions, changes were made. DMRC will now present the revised DPR, which includes an additional five kilometers within Ujjain, with an underground section near the Engineering College, passing under Ujjain railway station, and transitioning to an overhead section on the Agar Road. The cost will increase by ₹1500 crore. The initial estimated cost for the 47-kilometer stretch from Indore's Lavkush Chauraha to Mahakal Temple was ₹10,000 crore. Also, the government has approved a metro project between Indore and Pithampur, a 40-kilometer stretch. DMRC, which prepared the Indore-Ujjain DPR, will also prepare the DPR for the Indore-Pithampur route within the next three months. Furthermore, a meeting on October 30th is expected to resolve the ambiguity regarding the underground or overhead section of the metro from Bengali Square to Regal Square in Indore, with a decision expected to be made. If the underground section is chosen, an additional ₹1000 crore will be required, which the state government will have to fund.
Indore se Ujjain ke beech metro chalaane ka pehla Detailed Project Report (DPR) tayyar ho gaya hai. DMRC, jisne ise banaya hai, November ke pehle week mein metro officials ko pesh karegi. Iske baad, DPR state government ko approval ke liye bheja jaayega. Pehle, project mein Indore ke Lavkush Chauraha tak... 47-kilometer ka overhead metro banane ki yojana thi. CM ke suggestions par changes kiye gaye. DMRC ab revised DPR present karegi, jisme Ujjain mein 5 kilometers ka extra hissa shaamil hai, jisme Engineering College ke paas underground section, Ujjain railway station ke neeche se guzarte hue, Agar Road par overhead section mein transition hoga. Cost ₹1500 crore se badhegi. Pehle estimate tha ki Indore ke Lavkush Chauraha se Mahakal Mandir tak 47-kilometer ke hisse par ₹10,000 crore kharch honge. State government ne Indore aur Pithampur ke beech metro project ko bhi approve kiya hai, jo ki 40-kilometer ka stretch hai. DMRC, jisne Indore-Ujjain DPR banaya hai, Indore-Pithampur route ke liye bhi DPR agle teen mahine mein banayegi. Aage, 30 October ko ek meeting mein Bengali Square se Regal Square tak Indore metro ke underground ya overhead section ke baare mein ambiguity solve hone ki sambhavna hai, jisme decision liya jaayega. Agar underground section chuna jaata hai, toh ₹1000 crore extra lagega, jise state government ko fund karna hoga.
इंदौर मेट्रो के अंडरग्राउंड कॉरिडोर के लिए 190 मिलियन डॉलर का लोन मंजूर
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $190 million loan to develop an underground corridor for the Indore-Bhopal metro project. This will facilitate the construction of an 8.62 km long underground track with 7 advanced stations in the Indore metro project. The loan, equivalent to approximately ₹1670 crore, is for... the underground track construction. The contract for the underground track has been awarded for around ₹2200 crore, and work has begun from the airport side. However, the project faces challenges, including unresolved issues beyond the Khajrana intersection and opposition from traders near Regal, Rajbada, and now, Chota Ganpati stations. Any track alterations could increase costs by ₹1500-₹2000 crore, and the responsibility for these additional expenses is still undecided. The elevated corridor from Gandhi Nagar to Radisson is under preparation and has had a successful trial run. The underground section will connect Gandhi Nagar to the airport, and construction has commenced from the airport side. The loan will be provided to the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited, with a repayment period of 20 years or more. The first phase of the Indore metro, spanning 32 km, includes the 8.62 km underground section extending from Khajrana intersection to Palasia, MG Road, Regal, Rajbada, Bada Ganpati, and up to Ramchandra Nagar and the Airport.
