A meeting is scheduled today, Friday, to determine the feasibility of extending the Kolkata Metro to Barrackpore. The meeting will involve Metro officials, RVNL, representatives from six municipalities, and experts from Jadavpur University. The primary challenge involves relocating at least three structures to accommodate the metro pillars. A proposed solution involves... the installation of two 90-inch pipes, although concerns exist regarding the practicality of this. Micro-piling or alternative technologies might be required, necessitating a feasibility study, which would incur substantial costs. The funding source for this project is yet to be determined.

Aaj, Friday ko, ek meeting hone wali hai Barrackpore tak Metro chalaney ki feasibility par final decision lene ke liye. Meeting mein Metro officials, RVNL, chhe municipalities ke representatives, aur Jadavpur University ke experts honge. Problem hai ki Metro ke pillars lagane ke liye kam se kam teen structures hatane honge.... Ek proposal hai ki iski jagah do 90-inch pipes lagaye jaye. Lekin, itne bade diameter ke pipes lagana possible hai ya nahi, ispar bhi doubt hai. Agar zarurat padi toh micro-piling ya alternative technology ka use karna pad sakta hai, jiske liye feasibility test ki zarurat hogi. Iska kaam karne mein bahut paisa lagega. Is project ke liye funding kaun dega, yeh bhi ek important question hai.

A high-level meeting is scheduled today, Friday, led by Minister Firhad Hakim, involving Metro Rail authorities, RVNL, representatives from six municipalities, engineers from Jadavpur University, and experts, to discuss the feasibility of extending the Kolkata Metro from Baranagar to Barrackpore. The proposed route is approximately 12.5 km long and aims to... ease the commute for thousands of residents in North Kolkata. A major challenge is the water pipeline under BT Road, which necessitates the relocation of at least three out of six large pipes (42-72 inches diameter) that supply water to Kolkata. Experts will explore the possibility of using micro-piling or other modern technologies. The meeting will also address the financial aspect, discussing funding sources from the state government, central government, or a joint venture. Discussions will focus on alternative metro construction technologies, route alignment changes, and pipeline rearrangement. The outcome of this meeting will determine the future of the Barrackpore Metro project, which aims to significantly improve commuting for residents of North 24 Parganas.
